Location: Bristol (Hybrid – 1-2 days per week onsite)

Are you an experienced Accredited Financial Investigator with expertise in confiscation investigations under the Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA) 2002? We're seeking a skilled investigator to join a specialist team dedicated to disrupting organised crime, recovering criminal assets and ensuring offenders are deprived of the proceeds of their criminal activity.
Applications are welcome from fully accredited Financial Investigators, as well as those with lapsed accreditation, provided you have strong confiscation investigation experience.
The Role
You'll conduct complex financial investigations under the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002, working alongside law enforcement partners to identify, restrain and recover criminal assets. This is a varied and rewarding opportunity supporting serious and organised crime investigations while making a real impact on protecting communities.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct financial investigations under the Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA) 2002.
- Lead confiscation investigations and prepare cases for court.
- Investigate money laundering and criminal finances.
- Apply for production orders, search warrants, account monitoring orders and other investigative powers.
- Prepare evidential statements, disclosure schedules and court documentation.
- Attend court and provide evidence where required.
- Support investigations into restrained assets, unexplained wealth and civil recovery.
- Assist with investigations involving cryptocurrency and other complex financial assets.
- Work closely with partner agencies including the CPS, HMRC, the National Crime Agency and other law enforcement organisations.
- Provide specialist financial investigative advice and support to wider investigation teams.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and investigative procedures.
About You
To be successful, you'll have:
- National Crime Agency Accredited Financial Investigator status (or previously accredited with lapsed accreditation and significant confiscation experience).
- Accreditation as a Confiscator under Part 2 of POCA or substantial confiscation investigation experience.
- Extensive experience conducting Proceeds of Crime Act investigations, including confiscation, money laundering, detained cash, frozen funds and civil recovery.
- Experience preparing case files and presenting evidence in court.
- Strong knowledge of financial investigation legislation and criminal justice procedures.
- Experience interviewing witnesses and suspects (PEACE training desirable).
- Excellent report writing, communication and analytical skills.
- The ability to manage complex investigations while working to demanding deadlines.
- Strong partnership working skills with courts, CPS and other enforcement agencies.
- Full UK driving licence or the ability to travel across the region.
Requirements
- SC Security Clearance (or ability to obtain it).
- Police Management Vetting (MV) will also be required.
- Ability to work in a hybrid environment with 1-2 days per week based in Bristol.
